VINTAGE & TURBO: Vintage favors a warmer, darker crunch for blues, classic-rock rhythm and touch-responsive breakup; Turbo delivers a stronger, more aggressive voice for thicker riffs, harmonics and lead work. The exact difference depends on pickups, amplifier EQ and volume—some rigs will make Vintage sound softer or lower in level—so use LEVEL and FILTER to match modes instead of expecting equal loudness. This is one analog distortion circuit with two voicings, not a modeler or multi-effect.
GAIN FROM BREAKUP TO SATURATED DISTORTION: Start below noon for defined crunch, then raise GAIN for more sustain and compression. Higher settings can emphasize bass looseness, fizz and incoming noise, especially with hot pickups or a dark, high-gain amp; if palm-muted notes begin to flub, reduce GAIN or low end and add volume at LEVEL. Ideal for practice, recording, blues, indie, classic rock and heavier tones, but it is not designed to stay equally tight with every control maxed.
GAIN, FILTER & LEVEL: GAIN sets drive, LEVEL matches or boosts output, and FILTER works like a high-cut control: one direction allows more treble and bite, while the other smooths the top end. Its action may feel opposite to a conventional Tone knob, so adjust it by ear rather than assuming clockwise always means brighter. Use warmer settings for rhythm or bright amps and open the top end when a solo needs more definition. The two smaller knobs favor pedalboard space over onstage visibility.
